Brigid's Hope

Originally an outreach project of Brigid's Place, Brigid's Hope is now a separate Non-Profit OrganizationPlease click here to make donations to Brigid's Hope and note "Brigid's Hope" in the area labeled Designation.

Brigid's Hope provides homeless women coming out of Texas prisons and jails with transitional housing, mentoring, spiritual support and coordination of resources at New Hope Housing's Hamilton Street Residence in Downtown Houston.

The project is funded by private donations through the Cathedral Health and Outreach Ministries (CHOM), Episcopal Health Charities, The Clayton Fund, The Powell Foundation, and is approved by the Texas Department of Criminal Justice.

The organization needs women who are interested in mentoring and providing community support to the women of Brigid’s Hope.  In 7 years, thanks primarily to volunteer support, not one graduate of Brigid’s Hope has returned to prison. If you are interested in being a mentor or for more information, please contact Brigid’s Hope Program Manager Regina Walker, LMSW, at rwalker@chomhouston.org or 713-590-3318.

Brigid's Paradigm/Living Paradigm

A Low-Income Housing Initiative - Brigid’s Paradigm was founded under the mentorship of Brigid's Place as a model for families building their own houses with free, salvaged and recycled building materials, with the paid guidance of a seasoned builder.

Now in the process of applying for its own 501(c)(3) Non-Profit status, it has formed 'Living Paradigm Community Development Corporation.' Under the leadership of its founding Board Members, Living Paradigm is now eligible for grants and projects that it was not able to apply for in the past.

The mentor can develop plans, prepare documents for obtaining permits, help with materials acquisition and tutoring, allowing the family to do the physical work of building the house. Brigid's Paradigm works in collaboration with the Phoenix Commotion, a low-income housing initiative by homebuilder Dan Phillips.
