Two Poems

by Pat Moberley Moore

Fire
Elemental,
Consumer of our weaknesses --
Burn away unholiness,
Take us in Your hand,
Moor us past return.
We are called here
Not to be ordinary,
But to become
The Phoenix:
New in thought,
New in birth,
Returning to our wholenesses.

Petition to God
Neophyte here,
At the pulse
Of Your breath
I am stricken.
In the company
Of those who question,
I plead the case
Of angels, hoping
That some slight word
Opens my awareness
Unto a singular knowledge;
Some gesture bends
My heart to openness.
Breath against dark mirror,
I petition light...
Unblind my eyes!

A sculptor, Pat Moberley Moore explores emotions in stone and words.

Contemporary Magdalene Community
The Magdalene Community, composed of both men and women, is a connective community seeking dialogue with people representing the many varieties of spirituality and religious traditions in our city. The Community is dedicated to a celebration of all life and peace through study, meditation, and action and seeks to engage in the spiritual practice of dialogue and conversation. Evening visits to temples and synagogues in addition to Sunday gatherings are proposed for the spring.
