MMM Meditation, Movement and More

  Means of Transformation

TIME:   Sundays, 4 - 5:30 pm

PLACE:   McGehee Conference Room, Christ Church Cathedral, 1117 Texas Avenue at San Jacinto

MMM calls us to find in ourselves the divine force that unifies, connects, and nurtures our selves and others.  It includes the embodied experiencing of the present moment,  short readings about meditation and other spiritual transformative practices, and conversation about our experiences.

Participants begin with a meditative prayer of the body. This is the Integral Transformative Practice Kata,
an experience of the present moment through a series of gentle movements designed for all ages. (This Kata was developed by George Leonard and Michael Murphy of the Esalen Institute, and was introduced in Houston by Brigid's Place in 2007.)

The Kata balances and centers the body and psyche, provides a full body warm-up, offers a comprehensive course of stretches, includes three essential strength exercises, and ends with a session of deep relaxation.

Meditation, reading and discussion follow the Kata.

Wear comfortable clothing for movement and bring your own mat
or towel.

Parking is free for participants in the Cathedral garage on San Jacinto.

Note: Those who wish to attend the 5 pm eucharist in the Cathedral's Golding Chapel are welcome to leave early to attend that service..

Facilitators:

Pam Stockton is a member of Christ Church Cathedral, a graduate of the Perkins School of Theology, a retired attorney, Editor of the Brigid's Place Women's Journal and 9-year practitioner of Centering Prayer.

Carole Pentony is a member of Corpus Christi Catholic Church, a psychologist in private practice, and a 16-year practitioner of Centering Prayer. Her professional practice includes the method of biospiritual focusing, and she is the founder of the Houston Focusing Center.
