MMM Meditation, Movement and Other Means of Transformation  (formerly Christian Zen)

Sundays, 4 - 5:30 pm

McGehee Conference Room, Christ Church Cathedral, 1117 Texas Avenue at San Jacinto

The group is committed to the basics of silent meditation, together, via whatever tradition we decide to practice or want to explore. We have short readings about meditation or other transformative practices and discussions of commonalities across practices.

We are increasing our experience of staying in the present moment through praticing the Integral Transformative Practice Kata, which is a series of gentle movements designed for all ages. Integral Transformative Practice (ITP) was developed by George Leonard and Michael Murphy of Esalen Institute.

Wear comfortable clothing for movement and bring your own mat or towel.  (Participants wishing to attend the 5:00 pm Eucharist in Golding Chapel are welcome to leave at that time.)

Facilitators:

Pam Stockton is a member of Christ Church Cathedral, a graduate of the Perkins School of Theology, Editor of the Brigid's Place Women's Journal and 9-year practitioner of Centering Prayer. A retired attorney, she works for a non-profit organization that assists women.

Carole Pentony is a member of Corpus Christi Catholic Church, a psychologist in private practice and a 16-year practitioner of Centering Prayer. Her professional practice includes the method of biospiritual focusing, and she is the founder of the Houston Focusing Center.
