Reflecting on

Prayer of Welcome

Saturday, June 30, 2018
Mellinger Room,
Christ Church Cathedral

Presented by Brigid’s Place and Kathleen Church

Fr. Thomas Keating’s Prayer of Welcome is his summary of Pere de Caussade’s classic spiritual work Abandonment to Divine Providence.

Welcome, welcome, welcome.

I welcome everything that comes to me today

because I know it’s for my healing.

I welcome all thoughts, feelings, emotions, persons,

situations, and conditions.

I let go of my desire for power and control.

I let go of my desire for affection, esteem,

approval and pleasure.

I let go of my desire for survival and security.

I let go of my desire to change any situation,

condition, person or myself.

I open to the love and presence of God and

God’s action within. Amen

Our day together will flow from this prayer – with reflection on the text, time for quiet and sharing, as well as suggestions for journaling.  Hopefully, we will all be led deeper and deeper into the welcoming presence of God in our midst.
